CAMP ADMINISTRATION >>

Everybody is involved in camp administration with responsibilities shared between camp officials and corps members.

The camp director Mr. A.O. Dina who represents the State Director is responsible for running of the camp and occasionally seeks guidance and advice from him. His delegates responsibilities to other camp officials to take charge of various units of the camp e.g. Health, Feeding, Sports etc.

The Army is in charge of general discipline, Man O War is to take care of citizenship and leadership training, Red Cross is in charge of first aids while the police is charged with general security of lives and properties.

All these collaborating agencies are led by camp Commandant, Heads of Man O War, Red Cross and Police respectively.

DISCIPLINE
Discipline is the bed-rock in which orderliness, progress of an individual, community or a nation can be assured. Any act of indiscipline during the orientation and indeed throughout the service year shall be visited with appropriate and immediate punishment. Patriotic actions shall be acknowledged and rewarded. We in NYSC cherish excellence and we shall propel you throughout the service year to achieve same. A camp court to try cases of misdemeanour and indiscipline shall be set up. We enjoin all of you to be law abiding in order to avoid embarrassment. I wish to emphasise that all activities are timed and compulsory. Missing any of them spells serious consequences.
Camp life is regimental and associated with some discomfort. We will endeavour to make the camp as lively as possible but you should not expect the comforts of your home to be transported here.
This experience is to make a man of you by preparing you for occasional hardships which are features of every day life.

* Note that these items will not be replaced in the event of damage or loss.

During the process of registration you will be issued a code card which would carry your registration number and passport photograph. You are expected to present the card before being served food in the Dinning Hall.

You should always be orderly in the kitchen and never jump a queue.
Code cards are security documents and not replaceable.

DEVIATION AND PENALTIES
It is pertinent to stress at this juncture, that NYSC camps are regimented, so Rules and Regulations must be obeyed by all participants. Severe disciplinary measures will be taken against any violation of camp rules such as non – challance, absenteeism and insulting camp officials. The penalties for various offences vary from fine, xtra – drills, by camp court, loss of camp privileges etc. to extension of service.

GENERAL CLEANING
The tone of the service is discipline and self – reliance, corps members are to keep their environment clean all the time; littering is an offence. Everybody should take active part in general cleaning at the appointed time in order to maintain a high standard of camp cleanliness.

EDITORIAL BOARD
The editorial board is for corps members who are interested in journalism.
Membership is open especially to those who studied communication or humanities.
Always remember that cleanliness is next to Godliness.

LANGUAGE STUDY
Yoruba is the language of Osun People. Therefore, it must be learnt by all non-Yoruba corps members to foster a sense of oneness in the community in which they might find themselves after orientation. Language study is therefore compulsory at the camp for all non-speakers of Yoruba language.
The Foreign inter-ethnic understanding starts from there.

LECTURES AND DISCUSSIONS
One cardinal objective of the NYSC scheme is the building of a strong and self-reliant nation, with great, dynamic, economy and a just and egalitarian society through the mobilisation of the Youths. Lecturers are invited from the public to lead topical discussions on the socio-economic and moral issues affecting Nigeria, Lecturers are also given on Community Development Service, one of the cardinal programmes of NYSC which embraces all the economic and social service corps members are expected to render to communities where they are deployed outside their primary assignment.
