Everybody
is involved in camp administration with responsibilities
shared between camp officials and corps members.
The camp director Mr. A.O. Dina who represents the State
Director is responsible for running of the camp and
occasionally seeks guidance and advice from him. His
delegates responsibilities to other camp officials to
take charge of various units of the camp e.g. Health,
Feeding, Sports etc.
The Army is in charge of general discipline, Man O War
is to take care of citizenship and leadership training,
Red Cross is in charge of first aids while the police
is charged with general security of lives and properties.
All these collaborating agencies are led by camp Commandant,
Heads of Man O War, Red Cross and Police respectively.
DISCIPLINE
Discipline is the bed-rock in which orderliness, progress
of an individual, community or a nation can be assured.
Any act of indiscipline during the orientation and
indeed throughout the service year shall be visited
with appropriate and immediate punishment. Patriotic
actions shall be acknowledged and rewarded. We in
NYSC cherish excellence and we shall propel you throughout
the service year to achieve same. A camp court to
try cases of misdemeanour and indiscipline shall be
set up. We enjoin all of you to be law abiding in
order to avoid embarrassment. I wish to emphasise
that all activities are timed and compulsory. Missing
any of them spells serious consequences.
Camp life is regimental and associated with some discomfort.
We will endeavour to make the camp as lively as possible
but you should not expect the comforts of your home
to be transported here.
This experience is to make a man of you by preparing
you for occasional hardships which are features of
every day life.
